This is much too good to hold until Sunday, and now that it’s up here, I’d like it to be top of the page for awhile, at least till next week.

Look what our two newest BuFoons, Jo and Gene Cavanagh, emailed me in response to offering them BuVu priesthood and BuFoonery, whether they asked for it or not. (Which they didn’t. That’s the BuVu way.)

Before you read their response, set out in a “Not-on Sunday” conversation between them, let me put in a couple of prefatory words:

Gene and Jo have many good reasons for resisting offers to join any “religious group.” I will let them tell that story, if and when they ever want to. Suffice to say they are non-joiners for the right reasons.

To have them be willing, even happy, to join us in BuFoonery is especially heartwarming. Niels, our BuVu founder, would have been delighted, because their reasons for joining align as perfectly as it is possible to align with his original intentions for BuVu. Perfectly. In their words,

“It is the joining of not joining”
“The church of non-church.”
