Give these three men their due.
Whatever else can be said about his judgment in personal affairs, Bill Clinton served the country well. His heart was in the right place. He wanted to make thing better for all of us.
I’ve heard even some of his arch-enemies recently acknowledge that George W. Bush had a track record for using American resources to help needy countries, sometimes even against the advice of his Republican advisors. Good on him.
In spite of several setbacks and disappointments, and the inevitable comedown from the euphoria of Inauguration Day, I’m still thrilled to have Barack Obama in the White House. I think he’s been tireless about trying to do what he thinks is the right thing. I respect the rights of others to disagree about what is the right thing.
